Biography Sketch
Jürgen Michael Lobert
Jürgen is the Director of Analytical Services, a small laboratory within Entegris, a manufacturer for semi-conductor
supplies and filters. Previously, Jürgen held positions at Teledyne-Advanced Pollution Instrumentation, the
Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Max Planck
Institute for Chemistry in Mainz as well as a short stint at the Hahn Meitner Institut für Strahlenforschung
and the Kernchemie Institut at the Technical University of Darmstadt.
Born in south-central Germany, he received his Diploma in Chemistry in 1985 at the Technical University of Darmstadt
and his Ph.D. in Chemistry with focus on Atmospheric Chemistry in 1990 from the University of Mainz, Germany.
Jürgen's professional resume contains more details.
Throughout his scientific and technical career, Jürgen's right brain half always contributed somewhat to his life through expression in
plays, unsuccessful attempts to make music or his own co-written drama "The Evolution of the Chemist", which very
successfully (and cynically) prepared chemistry freshmen for the human aspects of their upcoming journey. With his move
to the United States, Jürgen discovered printed art when preparing for one of his numerous scientific expeditions,
which yet needed a proper logo. Once he mastered the art of computer graphics, he completed
a series of 12 more mission logos, partially for
his own but mostly for other people's projects including some contracted logos for NASA and NOAA.
Photography has been Jürgen's hobby for a long time but it
took his partner Panteha's encouragement for him to submit some photos for
exhibit at the San Diego Art Institute. Being bothered by bulky equipment and the limitations of film photography,
he specializes in digital photography and his digital dark-room to create unique views of nature, people, objects and
life. On some of the photos, Jürgen likes to apply his computer graphics skills to give the view of choice its special,
artistic rendition.
